Advocate for Literacy! Take Action!
Great steps have been taken to highlight the importance of Literacy. By learning about Legislative Advocacy, we can further encourage support and funding for Literacy programs throughout the state. Legislative Advocacy is largely relationship buliding. Communication techniques such as letter writing, phone calling, meetings, and site visits are tools for building relationships, not ends in and of themselves. Before you choose to employ a technique, investigate the preferences of the legislator. (ie. if a legislator prefers email over written letters, use email for communication).
