| | | Can a Fish be Stinky?
Purpose:
To practice vocabulary and conversation
Preparation time:
10 minutes
Materials:
Word cards
Preparation:
- Choose nouns that your student knows. You can limit your words to a particular category (food) or choose words from a wide range of categories. Write one word on each word card.
- Generate a list of common adjectives that your student is familiar with (hot, ugly, stinky, etc.)
Procedure:
- Pass out one word card to each student. Make sure he/she knows what the word means.
- Choose one of the adjectives from your list. Write it on the board. Discuss what it means.
- Go around the room. Have each student read the word on his/her card. Then have them tell you if the adjective on the board can be used to describe the item on their card (eg. “Can a Fish be Stinky?”) The student should answer yes or no. If the answer is “yes” the student should describe the situation in which it is true. Encourage conversation! The other students should listen to see if they agree.
