The Minnesota Literacy Council (MLC) was founded 35 years ago by volunteers dedicated to helping adults improve their literacy skills. Today MLC helps students of all ages, including pre-school and elementary school children around Minnesota.

Early Literacy and Family Programs (ELF)

The ELF program provides literacy home visits for preschoolers and parents, offers Early Literacy Trainings for children's professionals and hosts Play & Learn groups for daycare providers.

AmeriCorps*VISTA 

MLC AmeriCorps* VISTA programs include our highly successful Summer Reads program in the Twin Cities, plus the yearlong VISTA program that reaches out to communities across Minnesota.  Click here for VISTA project application materials.

Minnesota Reading Corps

Children's Tutor Training Workshop 

MLC conducts free trainings for adult volunteers who will become reading tutors for K-3 children in school and after-school community programs.
