Children's Literacy Services

The Minnesota Literacy Council (MLC) was founded 35 years ago by volunteers dedicated to helping adults improve their literacy skills. Today MLC helps students of all ages, including pre-school and elementary school children around Minnesota.

 

Early Literacy and Family Programs (ELF)

The ELF program provides literacy home visits for preschoolers and parents.

 

AmeriCorps*VISTA 

MLC AmeriCorps* VISTA programs include our highly successful Summer Reads program in the Twin Cities, plus the yearlong VISTA program that reaches out to communities across Minnesota.  Click here for VISTA project application materials.

 

Minnesota Reading Corps

This AmeriCorps program engages 360 members around the state to help children ages three to grade three build their literacy skills to become successful readers. Click here for more information about joining the Minnesota Reading Corps.  

 

Children's Tutor Training Workshop 

MLC conducts trainings for adult volunteers who are reading tutors for K-3 children in school and after-school community programs.
