Benefits for Children's Volunteer Tutoring Programs

The Children's Tutoring Network provides the following support for children's tutoring programs: connects volunteers to your literacy program, provides the ABC’s of Reading Training for your volunteers free of charge, provides Homework Helper Training for your volunteers free of charge, conducts CTN Meetings for Volunteer Coordinators to network and receive training, and provides additional resources for Volunteer Coordinators, including high quality websites, books, articles, teaching techniques, as well as access to the MLC resource library.

 

The Children's Tutoring Network currently includes programs from the Minneapolis and Saint Paul area.  If you are interested in joining or learning more about the network, contact Alison Jirik at ajirik@theMLC.org or 651-645-2277 x225.

 

October 2nd -- Volunteer Recruitment

December 4th -- Screening and Interviewing Volunteers

February 5th -- Working with ELL Students

March 20th -- Evaluation

April 9th -- Literacy Props on a Shoestring Budget (1-2:30pm)

April 22nd -- Volunteer Recognition (9-10:30am)

All meetings will be held in the Training room at the Minnesota Literacy Council, 756 Transfer Road, St. Paul, MN 55114.
