Family Photographs

Purpose:

To share family information, relationship language; ask/answer questions

Materials:

Photos of your family

Procedure:

  1. Ask learners to bring photographs of their family to class.
  2. Share a photograph of your own family. Model sharing some basic information about your family members, such as: “This is my son. His name is Jim. He is eight years old. He is in second grade. He likes to ride his bike. His favorite food is pizza.”
  3. Encourage the class to ask some questions about your son. If students have trouble generating questions, you can brainstorm some possible questions as a group.
  4. Ask for a volunteer to come to the front of the class and show his or her family picture and share information. Have the class ask some follow-up questions. If they have trouble, you can model asking questions.
