Frequency Adverbs

Purpose:

To give learners practice with adverbs of frequency

 

Preparation time:

None

 

Materials: Paper and pencils; board and markers

 

Procedure:

1.   Put the following sentence beginnings up on the board for learners to copy onto their paper. If you prefer, you could give the sentence beginnings as a dictation.

I always ___

I often ___

I usually ___

I sometimes___

I rarely ___

I almost never ___

I never ___

 

2.   Have learners complete the sentences on their own.

3.   After all learners have finished, have them share their sentences with the group. Encourage learners to discuss similarities and differences.

 

Variation:

If your students don’t write, you can have them dictate to you so that you can write.
