Materials:
Magazines or store advertisements with pictures
Preparation:
Collect magazines and advertisements that learners can cut.
Procedure:
- Have students cut out pictures of objects that interest them. With dictionaries, classmates, and you as resources, they write their name and the name of each object on a piece of paper and clip this to the paper. Walk around, helping with pronunciation.
- Each student stands up with one of his/her pictures.
- The student finds a partner, looks at his/her picture, and asks, “What is this?”
- The partner replies, for example, “It’s a hammer.”
- After teaching and learning, they exchange papers and find a new partner.
- Continue until most students know most of the words.
