Hearing Mistakes

Purpose:

To build listening comprehension

Preparation time:

5-15 minutes

Materials:

Reading passage

Preparation:
Choose a reading passage with which students are familiar. Read through the passage and make some changes that make the passage nonsensical. For example: "During the drive to work, Michelle's elephant got stuck in traffic."

Procedure:
Read the passage out loud. When they hear a mistake, students put their hands up, call out the correction, or note the mistakes. Encourage students to tell you why it doesn't make sense and what the story SHOULD say.
