Help With Word Endings

  Purpose:

To help students with word endings

 

Preparation time: 

10 minutes

 

Materials:  

Box of crayons, pen, pencil and paper per student

                                               

Preparation:

Write a number of familiar root words such as jump, rain, start, etc. on index cards. On a second set of index cards, write endings, such as  -ing, -ed, and –s.

 

Procedure:

  1. Shuffle the pack of root words. Have the student pick a word.
  2. Have the student write the word on a piece of paper.
  3. Have the student pick and ending card.
  4. Have student add the ending to the word and then pronounce the word.
