|  | | Mystery Box
Purpose: to practice describing objects based on how they feel using adjectives and comparisons
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Materials: a box with a hole cut in the side, large enough for an adult’s hand;
items to put in the box
Preparation: Select items that will encourage students to use adjectives they already know related to size, shape, texture, etc.
Procedure:
- Place an item in the box and hand it to one of your students. If desired, play some music while the students pass the box around.
- When you stop playing the music or when you say “stop”, the student with the box has to put his or her hand in the box and describe the object while the others try to guess what it is.
Variations:
- Do the same thing with 20 Questions, but put names of celebrities or students in the box.
