Reading passage

Preparation:

Choose a reading passage with content that is familiar to your students.

Procedure:

1. Read out loud from a reading passage. Stop before a key word. Ask the students to tell you what the next word is.
2. If a student gives you the correct word, keep going. If a student gives you a word that means the same, keep going. If a student gives you a word that does not mean the same as the target word, stop and read the sentence again.
3. If they are still unable to give you the correct word, tell them the word and continue. Take time to review any sentences and vocabulary that were difficult for the students.
