Questions about Me

Purpose:

To get to know each other better; to practice question formation

Preparation time:

None

Materials:

Whiteboard and marker

Procedure:

  1. Write the name of a well-known person on the board.
  2. Write some well-known facts about this person. For example:

President Bush:

White House

Washington DC

Texas

Laura

Republican

  1. Point to one fact on the board and say, “This is the answer, what is the question?” The students should produce the questions. “Where does the president live?” “What is his wife’s name?” etc.
  2. Follow up this example by writing similar answers about yourself on the board. These could be your age, the place you were born, the names of your children, the number of rooms in your house, your favorite food, the word “yes” and the word “no.” Have the students produce the questions.
  3. You can follow this up by having one of the students write information about himself/herself on the board and the rest of the class can produce the questions.
