| From the website (www.realebooks.com): "RealeBooks (“Really Books”) are picture books created with our RealeWriter (“Really Writer”) software. You can read RealeBooks in your web browser or download them with RealeWriter to print or modify." The basic RealeWriter software is a free download, and the pro version costs $30 for a single user license.
RealeBooks offer teachers a unique way to get their students writing: by making them the authors of their own books that can be printed or shared online. They are a particularly promising tool for Family Literacy programs, allowing parents to create books to read to their children in English, their native language, or both languages. Children too can make RealeBooks, even adding their own artwork as illustrations by using a scanner to make digital copies of their drawings and paintings.
Find examples of RealeBooks on their home page: www.realebooks.com . Of special interest to adult educators is the FACE RealeLibrary, a project of a Family Literacy program for Native American families. |
