Purpose:
To practice vocabulary; to classify items; to scan for specific information
Preparation time:

Materials:
Newspaper advertisements
Preparation:
Gather up newspaper fliers for the items you are teaching (clothing, food, etc.). Get enough for one per person or one per pair.
Procedure:
- On the board, make a list of items the students will be scanning for. For example, if you are doing foods, a fruit, a vegetable, a meat, a snack food, etc.
- Distribute the fliers and have the students scan quickly for an item that fits into each category. They should note the item and the cost.
- As a class, compare the items and prices that the students located.
