Selective Listening

Purpose:

To practice listening for specific information

 

Preparation time:

10 minutes

 

Materials:

Reading passage that you can use as listening material, slips of paper

 

Preparation:

Choose a suitable passage. Choose one word from the passage for each student. Write each word on a slip of paper. They must be words that appear only once in the text.

 

Procedure:

  1. Give each student one word from a reading passage, written on a slip of paper.
  2. As the students listen to you read out loud, they must pick out their word and write it down, together with those that come immediately before or after it.
