Swat

Purpose:  Vocabulary review and listening practice

Preparation Time:  5 minutes

Materials:  white board and markers, vocabulary list with definitions for advanced level, two fly swatters or rolled newspapers

Preparation:  For pre-lit level learners, write the numbers they already know and spread them out all over the board.  For advanced level learners, write vocabulary words on the board in the same fashion.  Have a list of the definitions of the words ready to be read aloud.

Procedure:

  1. Model or explain the game, showing students that they must swat the correct number or word as quickly as they can after the number is spoken or the definition read.
  2. Give the first person in each team a fly swatter or rolled newspaper.
  3. Students take turns and are awarded points for each correct answer.
