Tutor Resource Center
P1010016_4
When we sign up to become literacy tutors, we sometimes find out that our jobs involve more than just teaching letters and words. Instead, as literacy tutors we become friends to community members we might not have met otherwise, students of other cultures and ways of life, cultural brokers to those who are new to America, and we become partners in a quest to create a more literate Minnesota.  Because of the importance of literacy tutors, MLC has created this Tutor Resource Center to support them with extra resources and information.

In this Section:

  • Literacy 101: The Basics: Learn more about  the history and background of literacy in Minnesota, the nation, and within the international community.
  • Tutor Training: Learn about and/or enroll in a comprehensive training program for new and active tutors. Take a look at these pre-service trainings and in-service workshops that will help you become a successful tutor.
  • Preparing Lessons: Gather the tools you need to successfully prepare lessons and create a culturally-inclusive learning environment.
  • Advocate for Literacy! Learn more about what you can do to support equitable literacy services through legislative organizing and advocacy.
