MLC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.  Donations are tax-deductible.

To make a tax-deductible contribution, please print this donor form, complete it, and send your check (or credit card information) to:

    Minnesota Literacy Council
    Attn: Development
    756 Transfer Road
    Saint Paul, MN  55114-1404

    By Phone
Please call Jane Cagle-Kemp at 651-645-2277, Ext. 234.  We can take your credit card donation over the phone.  We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover.

    By Payroll Deduction
You can donate through payroll deduction plans, such as the United Way or Community Solutions Fund, by designating the Minnesota Literacy Council (MLC) for all or part of your contribution.  While MLC is not a sponsored agency of United Way or Community Solutions Fund, these plans allow a donor to request that his or her funds be forwarded to any designated nonprofit organization, including MLC.  Payroll deduction provides a convenient way to spread giving throughout the year.  Please ask your HR representative or your charitable contribution coordinator for the designation forms.

    Via the Web

Click here for our secure online donation page.  You may select one-time or monthly donations using VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express, or your donation can be automatically debited from a bank account you specify.

    With Stock
The transfer of stock is an excellent way to support MLC's mission and services, while also obtaining potential tax benefits.  If you are interested in this option, please e-mail our Executive Director, Eric Nesheim, or call 651-645-2277, Ext. 202.

    Through Special Events
Each year, MLC hosts the "Links to Literacy" Golf Open. The annual fundraiser brings in thousands of dollars to build reading, writing and English skills of adults and children.  This year's event will be held on Monday, June 9 at Stonebrooke Golf Club.  Click here for more information or to register for this exciting event.

We also encourage organizations and businesses to sponsor special events that benefit MLC.  These may include book fairs and drives, silent auctions at conferences, and many other creative ideas.  To explore the possibilities of events and activities that can support the cause of literacy in Minnesota, please e-mail Jane or call 651-645-2277, Ext. 234.

    With In-Kind Products or Services
We accept donations of new children's books for our Preschool through Grade 3 literacy programs.  If you would like to make such a donation, please e-mail Sheila Piippo or call 651-645-2277, Ext. 210.

If you can donate business products or professional services to MLC, please contact Jane at 651-645-2277, Ext. 234.  We are always in need of donations of educational and office supplies and photography, writing, design, printing and mailing services.

    To Kraemer Education Fund
The Thomas M. Kraemer Memorial Education Grant Fund was established to honor the exemplary service of Mr. Kraemer to the Minnesota Literacy Council.  Mr. Kraemer served as the President of our Board of Directors from January 1994 until his untimely death in 1995.  He began his service to literacy as a tutor at the Minnesota Literacy Project in 1989.  He joined the Board in 1990, serving as a director and later as a member of the management commitee and president.

This Education Grant Fund recognizes Mr. Kraemer's leadership and his commitment to life-long learning.  Student grants ranging from $100 to $500 are made throughout the year based on applications and funds available.  Applicants can be sponsored by an MLC employee or volunteer, or by a volunteer with any of MLC's Associate Programs.  Grants are awarded based on the following criteria:

    • The applicant has been tutored through MLC or an Associate Program.
    • The applicant is enrolled or will be enrolled in further education that incurs a documentable expense.
    • The applicant obtains a sponsor's recommendation.
    • The applicant writes a short essay describing his or her educational and employment goals.
    • The applicant demonstrates financial need.

To donate to the Kraemer Education Fund, or to receive a grant application, please e-mail Eric Nesheim, MLC Executive Director, or call 651-645-2277, Ext. 202.
