Teaching with PowerPoint
PowerPoint or other presentation software tools can be used to organize and present teaching materials in class.

Teaching with PowerPoint:

Following are some examples of simple lessons created by teachers to supplement lessons on weather, food, employment, recreational activities like fishing and a visit to the dentist. Notice that each presentation has only 4 or 5 slides.

Dangerous Weather and handout   Food Vocabulary  and handout

These PowerPoints have sample handouts that teachers can use to practice basic reading, writing and comprehension skills. Handouts can be created to match the language level and curricular needs of your learners.

Guy's Job     Going to the Dentist    Minnesota Fish

What handouts would you create with these lessons like these to promote language skills?

Some of these lessons were created by teachers who were using PowerPoint for the first time in a short 2 hour workshop at Hamline University. The most time consuming part is not learning the presentation software, but thinking about choosing lesson content that will be effective and appropriate teaching material.

Students learning and presenting with PowerPoint:

Students can also create PowerPoint presentations to help them organize and present information, practice speaking and communication skills.
