THE SUN WAS A FRAUD

Junko Nishinchi, St. Anthony

I had liked to drive until I met the cheating sun. I now dislike to drive after I had a scary experience.

One sunny morning, the sun asked me out. It seemed jolly. I decided to go out to seek for fun. Before I got on my car, I met an old woman. "Be careful to drive," she said with a serious face. But I didn't know the meaning. It was a shiny day.

When I just started to drive, my car slipped a little. I was surprised for a moment. But I continued to drive. When I turned my car at the stop light in front of my apartment, my car slipped again. I understood what the woman said. But I didn't quit driving. The sun said I could find something new.

I was driving on a straight street. There was no car besides mine. The green around me was simply splendid. I was enjoying the friendly sunshine. Suddenly a car came from a path so I stepped on the brake. My car began to slip. I snaked slowly and slowly. I couldn't do anything. I left myself to fate. Fortunately, no car came toward me. I continued to snake for a while. I felt I was slipping for a long time. Finally, I stopped at an intersection. After the nightmare, I looked up the sky. The fraud grinned at me.

A few hours later, the fraud disappeared. The true sun was in the sky high. He melted icy road and smiled cheerfully.

A SPACE BLUE SKY

Long Chu, Waite Park

My life is sad like Winter

My life is separated and teardrops

Is on a quiet river

Is yellow leaves falling

In the cold night of Fall

I look up to find a space blue sky

I look up to hope a beautiful day

Flowers will bloom and sunshine

Will spread over my life and my way

My life is a quiet river

Is yellow leaves falling…

                                             falling…

Food Court

Ice cubes melting

In the messy spilled pop

Vendors waiting for stacks of trays

Lunch time.

has many bright

small spiked green chameleons

slowly crawling on the hard brown

pebbles.
